The Shanghai World Expo organizer will begin recruiting volunteers next Friday to serve visitors outside the Expo site, an Expo organizer told the city's top political advisory body yesterday.

Any Shanghai resident can apply to be a volunteer, Deng Xiaodong, deputy chairman of the Shanghai Commission of Chinese Communist Youth League and in charge of Expo volunteer recruitment, told members of the Shanghai Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Shanghai.
