Five suspects have been taken into custody in Chong qing and Shanghai for a crime that took place in Shanghai on November 17, the Shanghai Public Security Bureau said yesterday.

Around 1am on November 17, police received reports that a group of men were stealing electric cables on Nantuan Road in Nanhui District. When officers arrived at the scene, they were attacked by suspects who had been hiding in bushes. The suspects hit one officer in the head with a pair of wire cutters and sliced his leg. Another officer was slightly injured, the police said. The suspects then fled in a car.
