Students who graduated from Shanghai universities in 2007 received an average monthly salary of 3,853 yuan (US$560.4) after they were employed for six months - 578 yuan more than that of graduates from the city's higher vocational colleges, a new survey has found.

Lawyers ranked the highest profession in terms of average monthly salary, earning 5,530 yuan, according to a survey on Shanghai university graduate employment released yesterday by MyCOS HR Digital Information Co Ltd, an online consulting firm.
