The local consumer rights watchdog yesterday warned residents not to use expired gas water heaters as they posed a danger to people's health.

Usually the life of a natural gas water heater was about eight years, while that of a coal gas heater was six years, said the Shanghai Commission Consumers' Rights and Interests Protection.
