Shanghai plans to provide millions of yuan worth of financial subsidies in a bid to compete better against other cities in attracting the regional headquarters of multinational companies.

"Shanghai will continue its opening to overseas companies, which have already made a great contribution to the city's development," Mayor Han Zheng said yesterday.
