Nine suspects have been detained in what police said was a scheme to smuggle at least 20 people into Israel, Shanghai Daily reported.

The group conspired to provide illegal documents to would-be "tourists" who planned to escape their travel group and find illegal jobs in the Middle Eastern nation, the Shanghai Public Security Bureau said yesterday.
