City police yesterday warned citizens of a new kind of ATM swindle, in which victims first fail to draw money from ATMs and then call the con men after seeing a poster by the automatic tellers.

"We found 13 cases in the past 11 days in Zhabei, Huangpu and Xuhui districts," said Wei Jian, a detective with the Shanghai Public Security Bureau. "Similar crimes may show an increase in the future."
