The Shanghai section of the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway will fully open to traffic on January 1, 2009.

The highway has been partially closed for the past two years for renovations to widen 20 kilometers of the route's Shanghai section. The A11 expressway will have eight lanes and a maximum speed limit of 120 kilometers per hour.
