More than 19 percent of Shanghai students from grade five to grade 12 are overweight or obese, said a citywide survey yesterday, Shanghai Daily reported.

The overweight figure was the same as a 2005 survey. However, there was a sharp decrease in the number of underweight students. Students with normal weight increased by 7 percent since 2005, reaching 44 percent, said the Shanghai Education Commission.
