An unsuccessful businessman was sentenced to 11 years in prison yesterday for swindling 420,000 yuan (US$61,352) from three lawyers by pretending to be in the Ministry of State Security and an officer in the military.

Ding Leyi, 35, who ran a textile trade company, was also fined 20,000 yuan by the Jing'an District People's Court.
