Construction of the longest riverside public area on the west bank of the Huangpu River has begun in Xuhui District, officials said yesterday.

The project, on Fengxi Road, is 3.25 kilometers long, and will be finished by the start of the 2010 Expo event, said Chen Yin, director of Xuhui District.
