The Jing'an District People's Court has sentenced Shanghai man Jiang Botao, 27, to five years in prison for embezzling 5.03 million yuan (US$734,929) of travel coupons

Jiang, a former finance officer with the Shanghai China Travel International Co Ltd, was in charge of distributing and collecting travel coupons. To get more money for personal expenses, Jiang sold coupons to others and did not record this. From 2005 to May 2008, Jiang embezzled 5.03 million yuan worth of coupons. Jiang spent the money on luxury items. He surrendered to prosecutors in May.
