Shanghai Daily news

Industry insiders believe sales of tickets for sleeper bullet trains between Shanghai and Beijing will soon drop off as the journey cannot compete with flying.

About 80 to 90 percent of the berths were occupied on the two bullet trains leaving Shanghai for Beijing on Sunday evening, the first day of the service, according to officials. But the high price of tickets might soon cause passenger numbers to fall. The overnight journey from Beijing to Shanghai takes almost 10 hours.
