About 18.9 million travelers will have entered and exited China's mainland through Shanghai by December 21 this year, 700,000 fewer than last year, the Pudong Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection Station said yesterday.

The number of tourists through Pudong International Airport between October 1 and December 1 was 773,669, down 20 percent. The number of visitors to Taiwan doubled in the second half of the year to 63,290.
