Twelve people have died in five gas accidents this month, about 40 percent of the year's toll, officials said yesterday, Shanghai Daily reported.

This year 29 people had been killed in gas incidents. The number of injured, at 76, was 43 percent more than last year, said the Shanghai Transport and Construction Management Commission.
