Shanghai Daily news

More than 65 people were injured yesterday in three separate gas and chemical explosions across the city.
The worst mishap involved the rupture of a gas canister that was loaded on a truck parked near a seafood restaurant on Huidong Road in Nanhui District at around 12:30pm.
"Police blocked the site, and I saw two ambulances and an engineering truck at the scene," said a neighbor surnamed Guo.
Nanhui Police said that more than 60 people were sickened by the fumes and sent to Nanhui District Central Hospital.
Most of the victims were senior citizens and children.
The hospital set aside an entire hall to treat patients suffering from dizziness, nausea and breathing difficulties.
Doctors said late yesterday that most of the injured were in stable condition, but several patients with high blood pressure and heart disease required close observation.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
In Jinshan District, four workers were burned when a talcum powder container exploded at a plant with a troubled history.
Employees of the Shanghai Xiangmao Co Ltd were working on the assembly line when a talc machine blew up at around 10am, authorities said.
Two men and two women were rushed to Jinshan Hospital. Doctors said that one man and both women suffered burns ranging from 8 percent to 30 percent of their skin coverage and will remain in the hospital for several days. The fourth worker was released after treatment.
A June 20 talc explosion at the same plant injured 10 workers, the Xinmin Evening News reported.
Yesterday's earliest accident occurred at around 6am at the intersection of Wuyuan and Wukang roads in downtown Xuhui District, where a gas pipe explosion sent two elderly passersby to the hospital.
One was injured in the arm by flying debris, and the other was hurt on the head.
Both were sent to Huashan Hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition yesterday.
The cause of the mishap is under investigation.
