The city will build at least two solar power generation systems in the suburbs this year to increase use of the environmentally friendly energy, officials said yesterday, Shanghai Daily reported.

One generation system will be set up in the under-construction Lingang New City in Nanhui District near the Yangshan Deep-Water Port. The other will be built on Chongming Island, which the municipality plans to build into an ecological area.
