City's measures to realize energy-saving triumph

Shanghai has successfully carried out measures on renewable energy resources that will support supplementary energy applications in enterprises, said the city¡¯s development and reform commission yesterday. The relevant measures have already been issued.

Shanghai aims to reduce comprehensive energy consumption by 20 percent in 2010, which is a key factor to realize it transition to an economic growth pattern. While its developments in renewable energies like wind and solar power are just a small step.

This year, Shanghai looks to reach the goal of reducing energy consumption by 4 percent, and is also striving towards the top rank nationwide.

The Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress has publicized its measures and suggestions on energy-saving this year, providing powerful legal support for the issue.

Additionally, it has adopted a system to decrease inferior enterprises. Large energy-consuming enterprises will be the highlighted by administrations, and high-consumption, low added value projects will be strictly controlled.
