Info card helps manage construction workers

Each
construction worker in the city will have a personal information card soon,
which is a new measure to be adopted this year by the administrate city's
construction workers.
The cards record worker's personal information,
current employment status and special skills. The information will be collected
in a labor force administrative system that will be on trial this July.
The card is initially tested in five of the city¡¯s districts, including
Huangpu, Xuhui, Hongkou, Yangpu and Pudong new area. It will be fully
popularized on March 1. By the end of June, at least 400,000 construction
workers will have the card, which conveniences the contractors paying them
comprehensive insurance.
The construction and management department can
supervise the project, protect workers' legal rights and interests, as well as
update their information much easier based on the comprehensive
system.
The new measure brings the labor hiring service to a standardized
level.
