Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng met a delegation led by Henry Tang, the Hong Kong Financial Secretary, at the Radisson Plaza Xing Guo Hotel yesterday, to commemorate the launch of Hong KongĄ¯s Economic and Trade Office in Shanghai.

Han extended a warm welcome to Tang on behalf of the city government and the local residents.

Shanghai and Hong Kong have maintained cooperation and exchanges on the basis of their Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement. Many domestic enterprises have witnessed the development in both the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, Han said.

Shanghai has gained a lot of experience from Hong Kong in trade, investment and finance sectors, as well as in some leading projects, he added.

Han believes that the launch of the Economic and Trade Office in Shanghai will further enhance cooperation between the two sides.

Tang thanked the city government for its support on establishing the office. He said he has confidence that a win-win situation will happen based on their past cooperation, and hoped to see more development in the finance sector.
