Taiwan-invested projects hit 6,398

Shanghai has approved 6,398 Taiwan-invested projects with a contractual investment of US$16.49 billion by the end of 2006, a conference held for Taiwanese investors announced yesterday.

Luo Shiqian, the deputy Party secretary of Shanghai addressed the conference. He thanked all the Taiwanese investors for their contributions to the development of Shanghai¡¯s economy.

He attributed the success of Taiwanese companies to their ability to seize opportunities and promised that Shanghai would provide a better environment and services for the Taiwanese who run a business in the city.

Shanghai Development and Reform Commission briefed on the city¡¯s economic development in 2006 and proposed goals for 2007 at the conference.

The Taiwan Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal Government also introduced Taiwan-related business and trade information of 2006.

The Taiwanese investors put forward their suggestions on the exchange and cooperation between Shanghai and Taiwan at the conference.
