Shanghai has established a monitoring system that can collect timely
information on the traffic situation and help maintain a smooth traffic flow,
according to Shanghai QiangSheng Taxi CO., LTD.
The monitoring system, developed by Shanghai QiangSheng, will offer real-time
information on the speed of traffic on different local streets, and helps the
city's traffic control center obtain the current traffic information via global
positioning system equipment that has already been installed in 5,000 local
QiangSheng cabs.
The 5,000 cabs equipped with the GPS equipment can deliver nearly tens of
thousand of pieces of traffic data to the monitoring system every 15 minutes.
The monitoring system is expected to play a big role in keeping the local
traffic authority well informed on the real-time traffic situation during the
2010 World Expo.
