Five policemen worked for illegal gambling houses to earn huge bribe payouts last year, city prosecutors announced yesterday, Shanghai Daily reported.

They said that 27 officials, including four division chiefs, working in state-owned companies or departments were charged with dereliction of duty from August 2005 to the end of 2006.
