A recovered British patient yesterday presented a bouquet of flowers to his hero¡ªa Shanghainese girl named Huang Yao¡ªat a hospital in Minhang District.

The 58-year-old businessman named Philip fainted from a sudden chest pain in a Metro train on March 19 when the train arrived at Xinzhuang station. Huang noticed the man and called out for subway workers to carry him out of the train.

Huang asked Philip what was wrong in fluent English, and then called an ambulance to send him to the emergency room of Minghang Central Hospital. She didn¡¯t leave until Philip¡¯s local friends were contacted.

Doctors diagnosed his illness as acute myocardial infarction, which could have been fatal if it wasn¡¯t operated upon immediately. A group of experts carried out a heart interventional operation that night.

With the medical staff¡¯s care, Philip was soon in stable condition. He asked the staff to find the girl so he could express his gratitude before he left the hospital. His thanks also extended to all the medical professionals who also helped save his life.
