Shanghai will host the annual meeting of African Development Bank (ADB) from
May 16 to 17, the spokeswoman for the Shanghai Municipal Government announced at
a routine press conference yesterday.
It will be the second time that the ADB annual meeting is being held in a
non-African country.
The bank¡¯s 77 member countries and financial organizations such as the World
Bank and the International Monetary Fund will send delegations to the meeting.
The meeting will focus on Africa¡¯s infrastructure construction, regional
integration and poverty elimination.
The Board of Governors of ADB and the State Council of China have confirmed
Shanghai as the host city for the annual meeting.
