Local residents will be able to use their transport cards to pay taxi, bus, and subway fares in Nanjing and Hangzhou by the end of this year, city officials said yesterday, Shanghai Daily reported.

Officials with the city government's Cooperation and Exchange Affairs Office said they have drawn up technical standards for cards in the three cities and submitted them to law makers for approval. Once they are approved, manufacturers will start making card reading machines for use in all three cities.
