Shanghai Party Secretary Xi Jinping and Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng respectively
met a delegation from South Korea¡¯s South Jeolla Province yesterday.
Xi said Shanghai and South Jeolla have witnessed wide exchanges in such
fields as finance, culture and trade since they established friendly relations
in 1996. In recent years, many South Korean enterprises have set up companies in
Shanghai and friendship between the two sides has deepened, Xi said.
Xi pointed out Shanghai is further opening itself up and he believed the
delegation's visit would facilitate even more cooperation between the two sides.
Park Joon-Young, governor of South Jeolla, said that Shanghai and South
Jeolla have huge potential for future cooperation and he was willing to make
efforts to further ties between the two sides.
Zheng said cooperation between Shanghai and South Jeolla in areas like
culture, science and technology and tourism has achieved fruitful results and he
wished the delegation a successful visit.
Park thanked the city for its hospitality and said he hoped the two sides
would strengthen and expand cooperation.
