Water suppliers in Pudong are equipping pipelines with online monitoring devices that can detect any contamination during distribution, Shanghai Daily reported. 

Water companies will be alerted over any pollutants.

The devices, some of which will be installed in high-end residential complexes such as those for expatriates, will help ensure stable tap-water quality.
