A consumer watchdog yesterday reminded local mooncake companies not to let
the prices of the delicacy soar by blaming increased costs on more expensive raw
materials such as sugar and grain, Shanghai Daily reported.
Some brands of mooncakes, such as Jade Buddha Temple mooncakes, cost 50
percent more than they did last year, a survey by the Shanghai Commission of
Consumers' Rights and Interests Protection revealed.
