New transport cards will go on sale next Thursday with the deposit cut from 30 yuan (US$3.90) to 20 yuan, the operator of Shanghai's commuter cards said yesterday, Shanghai Daily reported.

Shanghai Public Transport Card Co said old cards will still be valid, and commuters can return them for a refund of the 30-yuan deposit after November 1.
