Visa applicants to the United Kingdom must apply in person at the UK visa center to have their biometric data collected from today, the British Consulate General Shanghai announced yesterday, Shanghai Daily reported.

The new practice is being launched in China's 12 UK visa application centers in major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing, as part of the UK government's worldwide biometric identification process.
