Shipping on the Huangpu River would be better monitored under maritime authority plans to install surveillance cameras on both banks, officials said yesterday, Shanghai Daily reported.

Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration officials said yesterday they had already begun installing closed-circuit television cameras along both banks of the Huangpu River. About 30 will be installed by next year.
