Dong Zhen/ Shanghai Daily news
A vessel which sank at the mouth of the Yangtze River after a collision, the
ten-thousand tonner Zhongchang 118, will remain in the waterway until next week,
Shanghai Daily reported.
An operation to raise the vessel from the riverbed will then begin, the
Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration said yesterday.
The ship collided with another vessel on Thursday evening and 29 sailors had
to be rescued from the river. But none of them was reported injured in the
accident.
The precise timetable of the salvage operation to raise the ship, which was
loaded with 41,046 tons of iron ore, has yet to be worked out but maritime
officials confirmed the work would begin next week.
