Shanghai is bracing itself for the Spring Festival rush with the first travel peak expected to hit the city and neighboring provinces this weekend, Shanghai Daily reported.

The Shanghai Railway Administration said the railway network in Shanghai, neighboring Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces as well as part of Anhui Province had transported more than 600,000 passengers on Thursday alone, some 150,000 more people than usual, indicating a very busy weekend ahead.
