Shanghai conferred its top science and technology awards on a mathematician and an orthopedist at its annual science awards yesterday, Shanghai Daily reported.

Li Daqian, a mathematician at Fudan University, and Dai Kerong, an orthopedist at Jiao Tong University, were each presented with a certificate and a 500,000-yuan (US$69,039) prize.
