Shanghai Daily news

Immigration police at Shanghai Railway Station said on Friday that Chinese mainland tourists leaving by train for Hong Kong should be aware of the differences between Hong Kong travel passes stamped with "L" and "G."

The "G" travel pass allows Chinese mainland people to travel to Hong Kong on their own. At present, 49 Chinese mainland cities are issuing individual travel passes to Hong Kong. People from other Chinese regions should join tour groups arranged by authorized travel agencies to make the trip. Their passes are stamped with "L."
