12 hospitals to offer volunteer consultations

The nephropathy department of Shanghai Medical Association will gather 12 hospitals in the city to give volunteer medical consultations on the third World Kidney Day tomorrow.

Medical consultations will be held from 2pm to 4pm in front of Brilliance Shimao International Plaza on Nanjing Road E.

More than 20 medical experts on kidney diseases from the city¡¯s 12 leading hospitals including Changzheng Hospital, Ruijin Hospital, Huashan Hospital, Zhongshan Hospital and Renji Hospital will attend to give free health consultation to residents.

International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and International Federation of Kidney Foundation (IFKF) jointly proposed to set up the World Kidney Day and nailed it down on the second Thursday of every March. The first World Kidney Day fell on March 9, 2006.

The day aims to alert people to the high incidence and mortality rate of chronic nephropathy and angiocardiopathy. It¡¯s important to have an early examination to take precautions against nephropathy.
