Twenty-three people were injured when a bus slammed into an oil tanker at the intersection of Hai'an Road and Jungong Road in Yangpu District yesterday morning, Shanghai Daily reported.

The collision happened about 4:50am, when the oil tanker was driving from east to west along Hai'an Road. Witnesses said an Iveco bus on the other side of the road crossed suddenly and crashed head-on into the tanker.

The tank of the truck was full of cooking oil, but the bus did not drive into the tank and no fire or blast occurred.
