The city's first hospice ward for children with terminal blood diseases will be established at the Shanghai Children's Medical Center, Shanghai Daily reported.

Officials said the rooms will be decorated with cartoon images and other interesting paintings, the walls will be painted a peaceful color and the beds will look like those in a fairy tale.

"Many severely sick children have a fear of death," said Ji Qingying, director of the hospital's administrative office and chief of its social work department.
