Soccer star to pay alimony

Soccer star Fan Zhiyi was ordered
to pay 2 million yuan (US$293,255) plus interest to former wife Li Qian by the
Xuhui District People's Court yesterday.
Li said in a lawsuit that,
according to a divorce agreement signed on May 10, 2006, Fan had to pay 3
million yuan to Li and that a delay would result in interest payments. Fan paid
the first 1 million yuan to his ex-wife and refused to come up with more. The
court ruled that the soccer star should pay the rest of the alimony with
interest as the divorce agreement stipulated.
