The biggest oil tanker ever built in Shanghai begins its maiden voyage
yesterday, putting the city¡¯s Changxing Island shipyard on course to become the
world¡¯s top shipbuilder. The 297,000-deadweight-ton vessel, named the Yangtze
Pearl, is the first of several¡°very large crude carriers¡±to be delivered by the
Shanghai Jiangnan-Changxing Shipbuilding Co. The new tanker is 333 meters
