Shanghai's social set turned out last night in all their finery for a gala
dinner to raise more than 1.124 million yuan (US$164,448) for some of society's
most vulnerable children.
The black-tie event held at the Portman
Ritz-Carlton continues an 11-year tradition of support for the Foster Care
Program, a project that has helped more than 1,500 children find new homes in
Shanghai.
The Portman Ritz-Carlton's annual charity gala has raised more
than 6 million yuan for the program, which is under the umbrella of the Shanghai
Charity Foundation.
One of the highlights of the event was the auction of
art pieces created by children from the foster program.
