Here's a chance to tell traffic cops where to go

The Pudong New Area police are seeking suggestions from local residents and expatriates on ways to resolve traffic challenges in these hectic times.
About 160 road widening and reconstruction projects are under way in the area to serve the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, and all that construction is causing traffic snarls.
The road work also raises the risk of increased accidents. In fact, the accident rate has doubled in some areas, such as Chengshan Road.
Some long-standing bottlenecks, including the area around the Longyang Road Metro Station, have worsened. And it's even harder to find a taxi around the Lujiazui area, the Nextage shopping mall, Thumb Plaza and other leisure and recreational hubs. Illegal parking is also common around construction sites.
Pudong has about 1,190 intersections equipped with traffic lights, but only a quarter of them are near police administrative posts.
Pudong traffic police are hoping private citizens can come up with innovative ideas to help solve the problems they encounter in their daily lives, including rush-hour traffic jams, jay-walking, illegal parking and illegal business tricycles.
The comment period will last until the end of this month, and those who provide valuable ideas will be honored in January.
Suggestions can be sent by mail to Pudong New Area Police, No. 1500 Yanggao Road M., Shanghai 200135, or by e-mail to pdjxj618@mail.online.sh.cn.
