writer Wang Zhongyan has penned more than 200 memorable sets of lyrics for
well-known Chinese singers such as Faye Wong, Rene Liu and Jackie Chan. Her
best-known works include "Endless Love," the song for Jackie Chan's martial arts
epic "The Myth;" Jeff Chang's "Don't Talk to Him;" and Sky Wu's "Blue
Bird." Now, as one of the experts who will select original theme songs for
the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, Wang is in town to write lyrics for some of the
scores. Born in 1966, Wang started her career as an entertainment reporter
before she got involved in song writing, music production and concert planning.
She has conducted interviews with many international stars, including
Michael Jackson, members of U2, Sting, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine
Dion and Zhang Ziyi. Wang revealed that as the art director of the
entertainment company Mediacast Inc, she will promote promising local singers
and actors such as Fang Yuan and Hu Jun. Actress Li tapped as 'stylish

star" honors at the Cosmo Beauty award ceremony in Shanghai recently. The annual
award is one of the most influential honors in style and beauty products in the
country. Born in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, Li, 32, is one of China's
most successful actresses today. A graduate of the Shanghai Drama Institute, she
won "best actress" honors at the Huabiao Award for her role in the movie "The
Knot." She collaborated with stars such as Jet Li and Jackie Chan in "The
Forbidden City," which was released in April and won her critical
acclaim. More recently, Li had her wax replica unveiled at Shanghai Madame
Tussauds Wax Museum. She is the first and the only Chinese actress to be
featured in the museum. She joins other well known Chinese celebrities such
as directors Zhang Yimou and Feng Xiaogang and actor Jackie Chan at the museum.

pop singer Kosuke Atari held his fist concert on the Chinese mainland at the
Shanghai Oriental Art Center last Sunday. In addition to his distinctive
singing, his acting debut in the film "Cape No. 7" was also impressive. The
story is about a band in a rural town. He plays himself, as a famous singer who
visits the town for a concert. His major debut single "Sorezore Ni" is part of
the movie. Even without a strong promotional campaign, the romantic musical
drama has gained unexpected popularity. Raking in more than 100 million yuan
(US$14.6 million) at the box office, it is the highest-grossing Chinese-language
film produced in Taiwan. In earlier interviews, Atari said he was a little
nervous to take the role, as he found that acting was very different from
singing. It seemed the star worried too much. His performance was hailed by
movie fans and critics alike. Acclaimed film maker Hou Hsiao-hsien even said it
was the best movie he had seen in a long time.
