FOR the Shanghai Airport Group, technological innovation will be the key in maintaining competitiveness in the coming economic recession.

The financial crisis has affected passenger turnover, group leaders at the Second Shanghai Airport Group Science and Technology Conference said yesterday.

The airport group will focus on energy conservation, standardizing procedures and creating better management systems to control operating costs. A new technology center will be established to centralize resources, encourage innovation and provide a platform for dialogue with external experts, conference delegates said.
