A large fire broke out at an 18-story apartment building on Yan'an Road W., Changning District yesterday morning, leaving one couple with several burns. The cause of the blaze is still unclear, according to local fire authorities.
Residents said the fire started on the ninth floor and engulfed one apartment with an area of about 170 square meters. They said the apartment owners forgot to turn off the electric blanket for their pet dog, thus leading to the blaze at around 5:40am yesterday.
