China launches a meteorological satellite yesterday morning. The Fengyun-2-06 was
sent skyward on a Long March-3A rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan Province. It entered a preset orbit 24 minutes later. The 1,390-kilogram satellite, developed by the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, will play an important role in weather forecasting and disaster mitigation.—Xinhua
