Philanthropist donates 100 mln yuan to needy population in east China province

A well-known Chinese philanthropist donated 100 million yuan (US$12.3
million) in Fuzhou on Wednesday to the Jiangxia People's Medical Relief
Foundation in east China's Fujian Province, to provide medical services for the
needy. The donation from Huang Rulun, a native of Fujian and a successful
entrepreneur, will be chiefly used to help needy families who can not afford
medical treatment. Huang, board chairman of the Century Golden Resources
Group which is involved in real estate, hotels, logistics and finance, donated
180 million yuan (US$22.2 million) to Fujian Jiangxia College in 2004 and six
million yuan (US$740,000) to Fujian Charity Federation in June. Sources said
the philanthropist has donated a total of 450 million yuan (US$55.5 million) in
China over the past few years.
