Demand for electrical power in Beijing hit an historic winter high on
Tuesday with a peak load of 10.23 million kilowatts.
The Beijing Electric Power Corporation said a higher peak is expected this
week when the maximum load will reach 10.5 million kilowatts.
The company source said the extra demand for power was mainly due to heating
needs as colder weather sets in the capital.
Though the load continued to rise this week, the Beijing power grid was
functioning in a stable manner, said the company, adding that the city's power
supply was not affected by the peak load.
