Coal mine accident leaves 9 missing in SW China

A coal and gas outburst accident has left nine people missing in a coal
pit in southwest China's Guizhou Province, local coal mine safety administration
said today. The accident occurred at 3 a.m today in Wangjiazhai coal mine,
which belongs to Guizhou Shuicheng Mining Group in Liupanshui city of Guizhou.
Nine people are presumed missing. It was not known how many people were
working underground when the accident occurred. A rescue team headed by a
deputy director of the provincial coal mine safety administration has arrived at
the scene. Rescue work and investigation into the accident are underway.
